Privacy Policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
This policy explains what the PulseKJ guest app for iPhone ("the app") and the PulseKJ relay service it uses handle, and why. The app lets you request songs at karaoke shows run by KJs (karaoke hosts) who use PulseKJ.
What the app uses
- A random phone ID. The app makes a random ID the first time it opens and keeps it in your iPhone's Keychain. It isn't linked to your Apple ID, phone number or advertising ID. It lets the KJ's computer recognize your phone when you come back.
- The name you type — whatever you want the KJ to call you up with. A nickname is fine.
- Your song requests and any note you add (for example "key down please"), and the names of duet partners or friends you request for.
- A notification address (Apple Push token), only if you allow notifications, so you can be told when you're almost up.
- The venue PIN you entered, saved on your phone so you don't have to type it again.
- Favorites you heart are kept only on your phone.
Where it goes
Your name, phone ID and requests are sent through the PulseKJ relay to the computer of the KJ running that show. The KJ's copy is kept on the KJ's own computer, where it's used to run the show: to put you in the rotation, show your spot, remember your past songs at that venue and greet you next time. Each KJ controls their own records and can edit or delete them.
The relay (hosted on Cloudflare) passes messages between your phone and the KJ's computer. It does not keep your name, requests or song history. It does keep:
- your notification address for that venue, until it stops working or you delete the app;
- for the demo venue (PIN 000000) only, your demo name and demo requests for up to 12 hours;
- the number of wrong PINs from your internet address for 15 minutes, to stop PIN guessing.
Like any website, Cloudflare may briefly process technical data such as your IP address to deliver and protect the service.
What we don't do
- No advertising, ad IDs or tracking across apps and websites.
- No analytics or crash-reporting services in the app.
- We don't sell or rent anything about you, and don't share it with anyone besides the KJ of the show you joined.
- The app doesn't use your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Your choices
- Use any name you like, and change it any time in the app (Home → Change).
- Turn notifications off in iPhone Settings → PulseKJ → Notifications.
- Deleting the app removes its phone ID, saved PIN and favorites from your phone.
- To have your name and song history removed from a show's records, ask that KJ, or write to us and we'll help you reach them.
Children
The app is meant for guests at karaoke shows and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Security
Everything between the app and the relay travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS / TLS). Sessions are signed so one phone can't act as another, and expire after one night.
Changes
The app is in active development. If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
